Where it came from
Released as an exclusive for the 2018 New York Comic Con, this Shuri figure is part of the Funko Pop! Marvel Studios: The First Ten Years collection. The series was designed to commemorate the initial decade of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, highlighting iconic characters and pivotal moments from the studio's early filmography. This specific variant features a distinctive gold chrome finish, intended to elevate the character's status as the Wakandan princess and technological genius from Black Panther.
The figure retains the classic, stylized aesthetic established by Funko's signature oversized head and minimal features, adapted to showcase the intricate, futuristic patterns of Shuri's suit. The choice of a gold chrome aesthetic was a popular trend for convention-exclusive variants during this era of Funko production, aimed at collectors seeking premium finishes for their displays. Like many convention exclusives of the time, the item was received with enthusiasm by Marvel fans and Funko collectors alike, quickly becoming a sought-after piece for those documenting the evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
