Simba (Live Action) (Flocked)

Released in 2019, this flocked Simba figure was produced by Funko to coincide with the theatrical debut of Disney’s photorealistic computer-animated remake of The Lion King. The item belongs to the Pop! Disney line, specifically cataloged as number 547, and captures the young protagonist of the film. The flocking process was applied to provide a tactile, velvet-like texture to the figure’s surface, intended to mimic the appearance of soft fur in a way that standard vinyl does not.

The design draws directly from the digital character model utilized in the Jon Favreau-directed feature film, which aimed for a highly realistic aesthetic compared to the 1994 original. As part of a wave of collectibles tied to the film's marketing campaign, this variant was specifically marketed as a specialty item to appeal to collectors interested in unique finishes. While the film’s visual style received polarized critical responses, the associated merchandise, including this specific flocked variant, became a staple for collectors of the broader Pop! Disney series who prioritize texture-based variations.
