Where it came from
Released in 2019 to coincide with the photorealistic remake of Disney's The Lion King, this Funko Pop! figure represents the antagonist Scar as he appears in the updated film. The series was produced as part of the broader Disney merchandise rollout, aiming to capture the more grounded, naturalistic aesthetic of the new CGI character designs while maintaining the iconic stylized proportions signature to the Funko brand.
This specific iteration features a flocked texture, a specialized manufacturing technique that applies tiny synthetic fibers to the figure to mimic the appearance of fur. Design choices for this line focused on translating the nuanced, darker color palette of the live-action Scar into the vinyl medium. Upon its release, it became a point of interest for collectors who favor the tactile finish of flocked exclusives, contrasting it with the standard non-textured versions released alongside the main wave.
