Where it came from
Released in 2019, this figure was part of the promotional merchandise campaign for Disney's photorealistic remake of The Lion King. The figurine depicts the character Scar as he appears in the 2019 film, characterized by a more grounded, naturalistic aesthetic compared to his 1994 animated counterpart. It was designed to appeal to collectors of both the classic franchise and the modern CGI-led era of Disney cinema.
The design process for this Pop! focused on translating the film's complex, detailed fur textures and distinct facial features into the signature Funko style. Like many figures in the Disney series, it utilizes the iconic oversized head and minimalist detailing that define the line. Upon release, it became a staple for collectors of the Lion King series, sitting alongside both the original animated versions and the updated 2019 collection.
