Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Disney line in 2017, this figure depicts Skylar, the comedic and loyal jaquin from the animated television series Elena of Avalor. The series, which premiered on the Disney Channel in 2016, was notable for its focus on Latin-American folklore and cultural traditions, marking a significant step for Disney in diversifying its animated protagonists. The figure was produced to capitalize on the show's popularity among younger audiences, capturing Skylar’s distinct avian-feline appearance.
The design of the figure adheres to the signature Funko aesthetic, featuring the oversized head and stylized, simplified features characteristic of the Pop! vinyl line. The mold incorporates the vibrant orange and teal plumage of the jaquin, aiming to translate his animated character model into a compact, collectible form. While the figure served primarily as a commercial tie-in for the franchise, it remains a recognized piece for fans of Disney’s modern animated expansions and collectors of the broader Disney Pop! series.
