Where it came from
Spiral, also known as Rita Wayword, was released as figure number 1310 in the Funko Pop! Marvel line, specifically designed to coincide with the 2024 revival of the 1990s animated series X-Men '97. The figure captures her distinctive multi-armed appearance from the show, reflecting the aesthetic choices of the animation team which modernized the classic 1990s character designs while retaining the bold colors and comic-book-inspired silhouettes that defined the original series.
The design of this Pop! figure focuses on the complex anatomy of the character, incorporating her six arms and signature white hair. It serves as a commemorative piece for collectors interested in the expanded roster of the X-Men universe, as Spiral was a prominent antagonist in the source material. As part of the broader X-Men '97 merchandise rollout, the figure was intended to bridge the gap between long-time fans of the original animation and new viewers, emphasizing the show's commitment to visual continuity.
