Where it came from
The Great Protector Funko Pop, numbered 850 in the Marvel series, was released to coincide with the 2021 Marvel Studios film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The figure depicts the majestic dragon guardian of Ta Lo, a pivotal mythological entity within the film’s narrative. Its creation serves as part of Funko's broader initiative to capture key character designs from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in their signature stylized, oversized-head aesthetic.
The design of the figure emphasizes the creature's intricate scales and flowing, ethereal mane, capturing the distinct color palette used for the dragon on screen. As a mid-sized collectible, it was produced to appeal to both fans of the film and collectors of mythological-themed Marvel merchandise. Upon release, the figure was generally well-received for its attention to detail and its role as a prominent representation of one of the film's most visually striking creatures.
