Where it came from
The Last Ronin Funko Pop, numbered 240 in the Pop! Comics series, draws its inspiration from the acclaimed 2020 miniseries published by IDW Publishing. Conceived by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, the source material follows a lone survivor among the four turtles seeking vengeance in a dystopian future. The figure captures the character's distinct aesthetic, characterized by a more weathered, tactical look compared to the classic incarnations, reflecting the gritty tone of the comic narrative.
Designed to mirror the specific visual style of the comic's cover art and interior illustrations, the figure emphasizes the iconic red mask and the character's diverse arsenal of weaponry. The Special Edition release, limited to a production run of 25,000 units, was marketed toward long-term fans of the franchise who follow the evolution of the TMNT canon. It received a warm reception from collectors who appreciated the faithful translation of the darker, more mature character design into the signature Funko aesthetic.
