Where it came from
Krang, the notorious interdimensional warlord from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, was immortalized as Funko Pop number 72 within the Retro Toys line. Released to celebrate the enduring legacy of the 1987 animated series, the figure depicts the character in his iconic humanoid robotic suit, complete with the gelatinous brain-like entity visible in the torso. This design pays homage to the original Playmates Toys action figures that became staples of 1980s and 1990s children's culture.
The figure was conceptualized by Funko designers to bridge the gap between contemporary vinyl collecting and the nostalgia of classic Saturday morning cartoons. By focusing on the distinctive aesthetic of the Dimension X villain, the design prioritizes the recognizable bubble-glass cockpit and the stern expression of the mechanical body. The release was well-received by long-term fans of the franchise, who appreciated the attention to the specific color palette and utilitarian aesthetic that defined the character’s appearance in the original television show.
