Where it came from
Splinter, the wise mentor of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, was released as part of the Funko Pop! Retro Toys line, numbered 73 within the broader Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collection. This series was designed to tap into 1980s and 1990s nostalgia, bringing the iconic mutated rodent and his pupils to a new generation of collectors through Funko’s signature stylized vinyl aesthetic.
The figure features Splinter in his traditional robes, complete with his walking staff, capturing the character's serene yet vigilant personality from the original source material. As a Special Edition release, it was produced to round out the central cast of the franchise, finding favor among fans of the original comic books and the subsequent animated series who sought to complete their display sets of the Hamato Yoshi character.
