Where it came from
Zero, the ghost dog from Tim Burton's 1993 film The Nightmare Before Christmas, was released as part of the Funko Pop! Trains series in 2020. This specialized line was designed to celebrate the film's enduring aesthetic by depicting iconic characters riding aboard a stylized locomotive, with Zero occupying the tenth position in the overall numbering of this sub-collection. The figure retains the distinct, wide-eyed vinyl aesthetic established by the Pop! line, capturing Zero’s signature translucent white form and floating appearance.
The design team at Funko focused on integrating the whimsical, gothic art style of the stop-motion original into a toy format that could connect seamlessly with other cars in the train set. Upon release, the figure was well-received by fans of the franchise and collectors of the Pop! Trains series, as it offered a creative departure from standard bobble-head figures. It serves as both a standalone character piece and a functional part of a larger, modular display meant to evoke the holiday-themed spirit of the source material.
