Zhao Yun

Zhao Yun, numbered 122 in the Pop! Asia series, depicts the legendary Shu Han general celebrated in the 14th-century historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Produced by Funko, this figure was released as part of a line dedicated to bringing iconic cultural and historical figures from Asian history and folklore into the stylized Pop! aesthetic. The character of Zhao Yun is renowned in literature for his loyalty and martial prowess, particularly his exploits at the Battle of Changban, where he reportedly rescued his lord’s infant son while fighting through enemy lines.

The design of the figure translates the traditional imagery of the Three Kingdoms era into Funko's signature oversized-head, minimalist form. It features Zhao Yun in stylized armor, often holding his signature spear, reflecting the dramatic portrayals seen in historical dramas and cinematic adaptations of the novel. The release was well-received by collectors interested in the intersection of contemporary pop culture collectibles and classic East Asian literary figures, serving as a gateway for global fans to engage with these deeply ingrained historical archetypes.
