Where it came from
Released in 2008 as part of the Indiana Jones theme, Ambush in Cairo (7195-1) was designed to recreate the iconic marketplace chase sequence from the 1981 film Raiders of the Lost Ark. The set was developed during a brief period when the theme was reintroduced to coincide with the release of the fourth film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It captures a specific cinematic moment, focusing on the tactical engagement between Indiana Jones and the swordsman amidst the merchant stalls of Cairo.
The design emphasizes playability through modular architecture, featuring a collapsible wall and a market stand that allows for a dynamic reenactment of the film's stunt work. It includes minifigures of Indiana Jones, Cairo Swordsman, and a local merchant. While the set was well-regarded by fans of the movie franchise for its screen-accurate accessories and character selection, it occupies a specific niche in the broader history of movie-licensed play sets as a smaller, localized scene representation compared to the more elaborate temple or vehicle builds of the same period.
