Where it came from
Released in 2022 as part of the LEGO Star Wars theme, the Ambush on Ferrix set was produced to coincide with the premiere of the Disney+ series Andor. The set depicts a pivotal sequence from the show's early episodes, featuring the Mobile Tac-Pod transport used by the Pre-Mor Authority. It was designed to capture the gritty, industrial aesthetic of the Ferrix setting, prioritizing a functional, utilitarian vehicle build accompanied by minifigures of Cassian Andor, Luthen Rael, and Syril Karn.
The design team focused on the unique geometric shape of the Tac-Pod, incorporating play features such as an opening cockpit, side hatches, and a rotating shooter. Upon its release, the set was noted by fans for its focus on a specific, grounded narrative moment rather than the traditional large-scale starships typical of the theme. It is recognized for providing accessible versions of key characters from the series and for its faithful representation of the show's distinct visual tone.
