Where it came from
Released in 2023 as part of the LEGO City subtheme focusing on modern urban living, the Apartment Building (set 60365) reflects the theme's shift toward modular, realistic city infrastructure. Designed to integrate with the LEGO City Road Plate system, it provides a contemporary residential structure that complements the retail and civic buildings released within the same wave. The set was conceived to offer builders a detailed look at interior modular play, featuring accessible rooms and a functional elevator-style mechanism.
The design emphasizes a sleek, colorful aesthetic characteristic of recent LEGO City sets, utilizing a mix of modular wall sections that allow for interior customization. It includes a variety of urban-themed minifigures and accessories, such as a mobility scooter and bicycle, to ground the set in a bustling city environment. Upon its release, it was noted by the building community for its effective use of space and its utility in expanding larger city layouts, representing a refined approach to the classic residential building archetype.
