Where it came from
Released in 2018 as part of the LEGO City Arctic subtheme, this set represents the pinnacle of the line's narrative focused on ice-age discovery and research. The Arctic theme has been a recurring cycle within the broader City series, designed to capture the spirit of expedition and adventure by combining heavy-duty construction vehicles with scientific laboratory components.
The design emphasizes modularity and playability, featuring a crane, a mobile laboratory, and a saw vehicle, all intended to simulate the process of excavating prehistoric artifacts from frozen terrain. It was well-received by fans for its inclusion of the woolly mammoth figure, which served as a focal point for the set's storytelling, balancing the rugged utility of the vehicles with the wonder of archaeological discovery.
