Where it came from
The Beach Amusement Park set, released under the Lego Friends theme in 2023, was designed to introduce more complex building techniques to the Friends line. It features a technical build including a carousel with a dual-rotation function, a wave machine, and a shooting gallery, marking a shift toward more intricate, functional mechanical models within a series traditionally focused on roleplay and modular aesthetics.
The design team focused on creating a vibrant, coastal atmosphere that reflected the refreshed identity of the Friends universe. By incorporating Technic elements for the moving parts, the designers aimed to provide a challenging construction experience for older children while maintaining the visual appeal of the iconic minidoll scale. Upon its release, it was noted by the building community for its technical sophistication compared to its predecessors.
