Where it came from
BrickJournal, founded by Joe Meno, serves as the premier magazine dedicated to the adult fan of LEGO (AFOL) community. Issue 36, published in 2015, focuses on the intersection of architectural design and brick building, highlighting how hobbyists and professionals alike utilize the medium to replicate historical landmarks and modern skyscrapers. The publication emerged during a period of significant growth for the fan-built model community, providing a platform for creators to share techniques and exhibition highlights.
The design aesthetic of the magazine emphasizes high-quality photography and detailed interviews with prominent builders. Issue 36 specifically features contributions that explore the structural integrity and aesthetic choices required to capture urban landscapes in plastic. The editorial approach is intended to bridge the gap between casual play and technical engineering, which has earned it a reputation as a comprehensive resource for those looking to advance their design skills beyond standard kit building.
