Where it came from
BrickJournal, launched in 2005 by Joe Meno, established itself as the premier publication for adult fans of LEGO. Issue 37, released in early 2016, continued the magazine's long-standing tradition of showcasing intricate fan-made builds, interviews with professional designers, and detailed tutorials. This particular edition focused heavily on the intersection of building techniques and pop culture, reflecting the magazine's role as a bridge between hobbyist enthusiasts and the professional design community.
The editorial vision behind the publication was to provide a scholarly and appreciative look at the medium of plastic brick construction, moving beyond the toy's commercial marketing. Issue 37 exemplifies this through its featured columns that dissect complex structural engineering within MOCs (My Own Creations). The design aesthetic remains clean and instructional, favoring high-quality photography and technical diagrams to cater to a demographic that values architectural precision and creative versatility.
