Where it came from
The Dolphins Rescue Mission, released in 2019 as part of the Lego Friends theme, was designed to highlight themes of marine conservation and environmental stewardship. The set depicts a rescue boat equipped with a crane and a satellite dish, accompanied by a small heart-shaped island, intended to immerse young builders in a narrative of protecting wildlife within the Heartlake City universe.
The design team focused on interactive play features, such as a water-scooter, a medical treatment area, and a treasure map printed on reactive fabric to encourage imaginative storytelling. Upon its launch, the set was noted for its departure from traditional domestic play sets, aligning with the broader industry trend of integrating educational motifs regarding animal welfare into modular construction toys.
