Where it came from
Released in early 2021 as the twenty-first iteration of the long-running LEGO Collectible Minifigures line, this series marked a shift in packaging strategy by reducing the number of figures per set to twelve. The series was designed to offer a diverse array of original characters, including whimsical designs like the Shipwreck Survivor and the Centaur Warrior, reflecting LEGO's intent to spark imaginative play through eclectic, standalone themes rather than relying solely on existing intellectual properties.
The character lineup was developed by the LEGO design team to showcase a range of specialized printing techniques and unique molded accessories. Upon its release, the series was well-received by the collector community for its technical improvements, particularly in the intricate detail work on pieces such as the Space Police Guy’s helmet and the Ladybug Girl’s wings, which highlighted the evolution of LEGO’s manufacturing precision over the product line's decade-long history.
