Where it came from
Released in early 2012, Series 6 of the LEGO Minifigures collection continued the company's successful strategy of selling mystery-bagged, blind-packaged characters. This specific series was notable for its eclectic mix of historical and fantastical figures, ranging from the Roman Soldier and Minotaur to the Sleepyhead and the Lady Liberty. The series followed the established design language of previous waves, emphasizing unique accessory combinations and dual-sided head prints that allowed for diverse character expressions.
The character designs were conceptualized by the LEGO design team to appeal to both children and adult collectors by balancing playability with distinct aesthetic themes. The inclusion of more specialized parts, such as the Alien Trooper's headgear or the Highland Battler's kilt, marked a period where the company pushed the limits of injection molding for single-figure sets. Upon release, the series was well-received for its variety, and the blind-bag format helped foster an active trading culture within the AFOL (Adult Fan of LEGO) community.
