Where it came from
Lloyd Garmadon, the Green Ninja, first appeared in the LEGO Ninjago theme in 2012. Originally introduced as a bratty child seeking to follow in his father's villainous footsteps, the character underwent a significant narrative arc that saw him mature into the prophesied Green Ninja and the leader of the elemental masters. This minifigure represents his iteration from the later stages of the theme, reflecting the evolved aesthetic that balances traditional ninja motifs with the vibrant, stylized action-adventure identity of the Ninjago series.
The character design was developed by the LEGO internal design team to anchor the Ninjago narrative, which draws from a blend of Eastern mythology and high-tech fantasy tropes. As the central protagonist of the series, Lloyd’s design has been iterated upon repeatedly to mirror his growth from a wayward child to a seasoned mentor. The figure is celebrated by the community for its role in maintaining the longevity of the Ninjago line, which has become one of the most successful and enduring original intellectual properties in the company's history.
