Where it came from
Lloyd Garmadon, the Green Ninja, first appeared in the LEGO Ninjago theme in 2012 as a central figure in the Rising of the Serpentine storyline. This specific iteration, part of the 892172-1 minifigure release, reflects the character's evolution from a mischievous youth to the prophesied savior of Ninjago, a design choice intended to resonate with younger fans through his bright, iconic green color scheme and evolving elemental powers.
The character design was spearheaded by the LEGO design team to ground the Ninjago narrative in a blend of Eastern mythology and modern action aesthetics. Upon his introduction, the character was received warmly by the collecting community, becoming a staple of the line due to his complex narrative arc and the enduring appeal of his role as the leader of the ninja team.
