Where it came from
The LEGO Creator London Bus, set 40953-1, was released as part of a series of smaller-scale, promotional-style builds designed to capture the architectural essence of iconic city vehicles. Within the Creator theme, this set focuses on accessible assembly and recognizable silhouettes, stripping away the complex internal mechanics found in larger display models to emphasize the characteristic red aesthetic and double-decker profile of the classic British transport.
The design of this model reflects the long-standing tradition of LEGO city-themed sets, which often iterate on the theme of public transit. By utilizing standard brick components, the designers aimed to evoke the charm of the Routemaster bus through simple geometry and iconic color blocking. While not a high-fidelity display piece like the Creator Expert line, it was received as a charming homage to London transit, intended primarily for younger builders or as a quick, nostalgic build for collectors of city-themed modulars.
