Flippant Taunt

Flippant Taunt was introduced as part of the Hyperia City expansion, a set centered on the fast-paced, urban-dystopian aesthetic characteristic of the middle-era of the game's development. Designed to bridge the gap between aggressive early-game play and late-game resource management, the card was conceptualized by the art and design team to punish opponents who overextended their defensive resources. It arrived during a period when the developers were shifting focus toward more interactive action cards to balance the influx of high-power creature units.

The visual design of the card features signature, high-contrast ink-wash illustrations that define the Hyperia City aesthetic, favoring sharp silhouettes and neon-heavy palettes to convey a sense of kinetic energy. As a common rarity card, it was widely distributed to ensure that budget-conscious players could incorporate effective disruptive strategies into their decks. While it was never intended to be a centerpiece of competitive meta-play, the card remains well-regarded by collectors of the set for its concise utility and its role in defining the distinct visual identity of the Hyperia block.
