Where it came from
Ink Explosion was released as part of the Hyperia City expansion set, a series designed to flesh out the game's urban cyberpunk aesthetic. As a common-rarity action card, it was intended to serve as a staple utility piece for players, allowing for board state manipulation that fit the high-energy, chaotic theme of the setting's narrative.
The visual design features heavy ink-blot motifs meant to represent a digital virus spreading through the city's infrastructure. It reflects the stylistic direction of the Hyperia City art team, which prioritized stark, high-contrast imagery to evoke the grit of the game's neon-drenched environment, and it was generally well-received by the player base for its functional simplicity.
