Where it came from
The Shere Khan card from the Hyperia City set was released during the height of the series' popularity, designed to anchor the central antagonist faction within the game's urban-dystopian narrative. As a legendary-rarity character, it was conceptualized to serve as a high-stakes tactical pivot, forcing players to adapt their defensive strategies when this unit appeared on the board.
The character design was crafted by the lead art team at Hyperia studios, who sought to blend classic predator aesthetics with a distinct cybernetic flair unique to the setting. Upon its introduction, the card was widely praised for its balance of thematic flavor and competitive viability, quickly becoming a staple in high-level deck builds that focused on resource intimidation.
