Where it came from
Released as part of the Hyperia City expansion, Never Gonna Let You Cry serves as a tactical action card within the set's broader mechanical framework. It was designed during a period when the game developers sought to emphasize narrative-driven emotional stakes alongside strategic gameplay, aiming to provide players with a versatile defensive tool that rewarded long-term planning during high-pressure match scenarios.
The card features distinct illustrative work consistent with the Hyperia City aesthetic, which utilized a vibrant, neon-drenched cyberpunk palette meant to evoke the feeling of a rain-slicked metropolis. While individual artists for the set often operated under studio-wide design guidelines, the composition of card number 30 is frequently cited by collectors for its minimalist approach to character portraiture, helping it maintain a clear identity amidst the high-complexity mechanics introduced in the same release.
