Where it came from
The Hyperia City trading card game emerged during the mid-nineties expansion of the collectible card market, designed to capitalize on the burgeoning popularity of cyberpunk aesthetics in tabletop gaming. The set was conceived as a high-concept exploration of a dystopian future, with individual card designs like 'Remember Me' intended to evoke themes of identity and lost history within the urban sprawl of the titular metropolis.
The art for the card was created by a team of illustrators aiming for a distinct, high-contrast visual style that separated Hyperia City from its fantasy-leaning competitors. 'Remember Me' became a noted rarity within the set, valued by players for its tactical utility and by collectors for its minimalist, evocative illustration, which remains a benchmark for the series' artistic direction.
