Where it came from
Never Too Far Apart was released as part of the Hyperia City expansion, a series defined by its synth-wave aesthetic and narrative focus on the fractured infrastructure of a sprawling, neon-drenched metropolis. The card emerged during a period when the game designers were pivoting toward emotive, narrative-driven mechanics, aiming to provide players with tools that functioned as both strategic assets and storytelling prompts within the game's broader lore.
The visual design was spearheaded by the lead art team at the time, who drew inspiration from minimalist graphic design to convey the distance mentioned in the card's title. By utilizing stark, high-contrast silhouettes against a muted background, the design was intended to emphasize the isolation inherent in the Hyperia setting. It was received positively by the community for its thematic depth and the unique tactical advantage it offered in mid-game cycles.
