Above the Clouds

Above the Clouds is a front card released as part of the Jumpstart set in 2020. This unique product was designed to facilitate a novel, randomized draft-style play experience, where players combine two distinct themed packets to form a functional deck. As a front card, it serves the dual purpose of acting as an identifier for the theme and a basic land card, streamlining the setup process for players who want to jump into a game without extensive deck building.

The art and design for the Jumpstart front cards were created to provide immediate thematic clarity, utilizing a vibrant and accessible aesthetic that reflects the lighthearted, pick-up-and-play nature of the expansion. By featuring a clear visual label and name, the card helps maintain the organization of the set's disparate archetypes. It was generally well-received by the community for successfully lowering the barrier to entry for casual players while providing enough mechanical depth to satisfy veteran hobbyists.
