Provenance

Where it came from

The Alabaster Potion debuted as the inaugural card in the Rivals Quick Start Set, a foundational release designed to introduce new players to the core mechanics of the Rivals trading card game. It was crafted during a period when the developers sought to stabilize early-game utility, providing a low-cost healing mechanic that helped establish the game's tactical pacing for newcomers.

The card’s illustration was intended to evoke the clean, ethereal aesthetic associated with the game's light-aligned factions. By utilizing a minimalist approach to the potion's visual design, the artist aimed to make the item appear both functional and mystical, an artistic choice that was widely praised for its clarity and thematic consistency within the set's broader visual identity.
