Where it came from
The 'Angels' front card serves as a thematic packaging indicator for the Jumpstart set, released by Wizards of the Coast in 2020. This set was designed as a unique, self-contained way to play Magic: The Gathering, where players shuffle two randomized packs together to form a deck. The front card acts as a label to identify the specific theme of the pack, allowing players to quickly see the deck's composition without opening the contents.
The visual design follows the established aesthetic of the Jumpstart product line, prioritizing clear iconography and bold text to differentiate the twenty-one possible themes. While the artwork for the cards within the Angels pack features classic celestial motifs found in Magic's history, the front card itself was produced as a functional utility piece. It was received by the player base as a practical innovation for casual draft-style play, emphasizing ease of access and set replayability.
