Provenance

Where it came from

The Animal Friend card was released as part of the Magic: The Gathering Fallout Commander deck set in 2024. Designed to celebrate the aesthetic and thematic universe of the Fallout video game franchise, the card draws inspiration from the long-running perk system within the series, which allows players to interact peacefully with wasteland creatures.

The artwork for this card was crafted by illustrator Wisnu Tan, who captured the whimsical yet desolate essence of the post-apocalyptic setting. By integrating the recognizable visual language of the series into the mechanics of a trading card game, the design was aimed at both longtime fans of the Fallout games and tabletop players who appreciate the thematic cohesion of the crossover sets.
