Where it came from
Animal Magnetism was released in 2023 as part of the Commander Masters set, a high-profile expansion designed specifically for the popular Commander format in Magic: The Gathering. The card was crafted to support graveyard-themed strategies, offering players a way to recur powerful creatures directly from their library to the battlefield. This design reflects the set's broader goal of providing synergistic, high-impact reprints and new cards tailored to the social and strategic complexities of multiplayer play.
The artwork for this card was provided by illustrator Livia Prima, who utilized a lush, visceral style to evoke the primal connection between the caster and the creatures being summoned. Prima’s work focuses on the intense, glowing energy typical of green-aligned magic, reinforcing the card's function as a burst of revitalizing life. Within the Magic community, the card is recognized for its niche utility and the specific tactical depth it adds to tribal or graveyard-centric decks.
