Where it came from
Annie Flash, the Veteran was released in 2024 as part of the Magic: The Gathering expansion set Outlaws of Thunder Junction. The set focuses on a genre-bending Western aesthetic, transporting iconic fantasy characters into a frontier-themed plane. The card depicts Annie Flash, a character introduced as part of the set's central narrative arc involving a high-stakes heist across the desert landscape.
The character design was crafted to embody the hardened, resourceful nature of the plane's inhabitants, utilizing a visual language consistent with high-fantasy depictions of gunslingers and outlaws. The artwork emphasizes the character's dual nature as both a powerful combatant and a tactical leader, aligning with her mechanical role in the game, which emphasizes teamwork and rapid response in the heat of battle.
