Where it came from
Anointed Procession was originally released as a rare enchantment in the 2017 Magic: The Gathering expansion Amonkhet. Designed by the Wizards of the Coast team, the card was crafted to serve as a cornerstone for white token-based strategies, mechanically reflecting the religious fervor and ritualistic society of the plane of Amonkhet. Its ability to double token production quickly made it a staple in various constructed formats, particularly Commander.
The art, illustrated by Magali Villeneuve, depicts a grand, solemn parade of white-clad figures, capturing the stark, polished aesthetic of the Amonkhet set. Upon its release, the card was highly regarded for its unique utility, and it has since become a perennial favorite among players who favor synergy-driven deck building. Its inclusion in 'The List'—a rotating collection of reprints found in Set Boosters—ensured that the card remained accessible to newer players years after its initial printing.
