Where it came from
Anointed Procession was originally released as a rare enchantment in the 2017 Amonkhet set, designed to double the number of tokens a player creates. Its mechanic became a staple in white-aligned token strategies, leading to its inclusion in the Secret Lair series, a curated line of premium, alternate-art reprints launched by Wizards of the Coast in 2019 to provide collectors with stylistically unique versions of iconic game pieces.
This specific Secret Lair printing, numbered 1511, features stylized, artistic interpretations that diverge from the traditional fantasy realism of the core sets. Like many cards in this series, it was produced as a limited-availability product sold directly to players, prioritizing artistic experimentation and thematic cohesion over the standard visual language of the trading card game, and it is widely collected today for its aesthetic deviation from the original aesthetic established during the Amonkhet block.
