Where it came from
Architects of Will is a scheme card released in 2010 as part of the inaugural Archenemy expansion for Magic: The Gathering. This set introduced a unique multiplayer format where one player assumes the role of the 'Archenemy,' wielding a deck of powerful, oversized scheme cards to challenge multiple opponents simultaneously. The card was designed to embody the flavor of an overarching antagonist orchestrating the battlefield through manipulation and foresight.
The card features illustration by Michael Komarck, a well-known fantasy artist who contributed extensively to the game during this era. His design utilizes a dark, commanding aesthetic intended to reflect the oppressive power of the Archenemy. Upon its release, the card became a staple of the format for its ability to provide card selection and library manipulation, effectively allowing the Archenemy to dictate the flow of the game and suppress opposing strategies.
