Provenance

Where it came from

Argentum Armor was released in November 2014 as part of the Commander 2014 card set, a specialized expansion for the Magic: The Gathering format centered around mono-colored planeswalker commanders. The card was designed to support equipment-focused strategies, fitting the set's broader initiative to provide tools for Commander-specific archetypes that had previously lacked sufficient support in standard play.

The card’s illustration was crafted by artist Volkan Baga, who rendered the piece with a focus on metallic textures and an imposing, regal silhouette. Within the game's lore, the armor originates from Argentum, the artificial world that would eventually become Mirrodin. The design was intended to evoke the cold, systematic perfection of the plane's creator, Karn, and it was received by players as a staple for deck archetypes that emphasize aggressive equipment synergies.
