Containment Priest

Containment Priest was first introduced in the Commander 2014 set, released by Wizards of the Coast to expand the strategic depth of the multiplayer Commander format. The card was designed to serve as a targeted answer to creature-heavy strategies that rely on bringing units onto the battlefield from outside the hand, such as reanimation or flicker effects, thereby adding a layer of reactive control to the game.

The artwork was illustrated by Magali Villeneuve, who sought to capture the character's role as a watchful, imposing figure of containment. The design emphasizes a sense of static authority and spiritual restriction, fitting the character's thematic alignment with white mana's emphasis on rules and order. Upon its release, it was well-received by players for its efficiency as an instant-speed silver bullet against various high-power deck archetypes.
