What it does
Menace
Ruinous Ascension — When this creature deals combat damage to a player, sacrifice it. If you do, reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a creature card. Put that card onto the battlefield, then shuffle the rest into your library. If that creature is a Demon, it deals damage equal to its power to each opponent.

Where it came from
The Aspiring Champion was released as part of the Warhammer 40,000 Commander deck series for Magic: The Gathering, a collaboration between Wizards of the Coast and Games Workshop that brought iconic factions from the grimdark science-fiction universe to the tabletop card game. This specific card represents a foundational unit in Chaos Space Marine armies, reflecting the lore where individual warriors seek the favor of the Chaos Gods to ascend to the rank of Chaos Lord or Daemon Prince.
The card’s design features distinct artwork consistent with the aesthetic established for the Powers of Ruin faction in the set, emphasizing the corrupted power armor and jagged iconography synonymous with the Chaos legions. As a mechanical inclusion in the set, the card was crafted to bolster tribal synergies for players fielding decks themed around the forces of the Warp, and it was received by the community as a thematic staple for enthusiasts of the Warhammer 40,000 intellectual property.
