Where it came from
The Autograph Book was released as part of the Unfinity expansion for Magic: The Gathering, which debuted in late 2022. As an 'un-set,' this collection was designed to prioritize humor, mechanical novelty, and interactive gameplay experiences that diverge from the game's traditional competitive rules. The card serves as a thematic nod to the carnival and space-circus motif that defines the set's aesthetic.
The art was created by illustrator Justine Jones, who rendered the item with a vibrant, whimsical style consistent with the retro-futuristic atmosphere of Unfinity. The card functions as an artifact that allows players to physically gather signatures from opponents, encouraging a lighthearted social interaction that mirrors the lighthearted design philosophy behind the entire set.
