Provenance

Where it came from

Bitterblossom originally debuted in the 2008 Magic: The Gathering set Morningtide. As a tribal enchantment associated with Faeries, it quickly became a defining card in competitive play due to its ability to generate recurring creature tokens at the cost of life. Its mechanical efficiency and distinct flavor made it a sought-after staple, solidifying its place as one of the most recognizable enchantments in the game's history.

This specific iteration is from a 2020 Secret Lair drop titled Bitterblossom Dreams. The release featured unique, ethereal art by Rebecca Guay, a long-time contributor to Magic whose soft, painterly aesthetic is highly regarded by collectors. By reimagining the iconic spell through her signature style, the set was designed to lean into the melancholic, fairytale-inspired nature of the card, earning widespread appreciation from fans of the game's artistic heritage.
