What it does
If one or more +1/+1 counters would be put on a creature you control, twice that many +1/+1 counters are put on that creature instead.
As Aclazotz's undead forces approached the temple of Ojer Kaslem, they met a roaring wall of vibrant, flourishing life.

Where it came from
Branching Evolution was introduced as part of the Modern Horizons 3 set, released by Wizards of the Coast in 2024. This set was specifically designed to introduce powerful, new-to-modern cards into the Magic: The Gathering ecosystem, drawing on the game's long-standing mechanics and themes. As a reprint from the Jumpstart set, this card serves as a staple for green-aligned decks focused on +1/+1 counter synergy, providing a way to accelerate board presence through exponential growth.
The illustration for this specific printing was created by artist Jesper Ejsing, whose work is characterized by vibrant, fantasy-oriented compositions. In this piece, Ejsing focuses on the visual manifestation of evolutionary magic, depicting the transformation and proliferation of creature traits. The art was well-received by the player community for its ability to clearly communicate the card's function while maintaining the distinct, high-fantasy aesthetic that defines the Modern Horizons series.
