Brushland

Brushland was first introduced in the 1995 Magic: The Gathering expansion set Ice Age, designed to provide players with dual-color land utility. The card allows players to tap for either colorless mana or pay one life to produce white or green mana, reflecting the harsh, resource-strained environment of the set's lore. It was later reprinted in the 1998 Anthologies box set, which served as a curated retrospective of the game's early years, allowing newer players to acquire essential cards that had become difficult to find.

The artwork for this version was provided by Bryon Wackwitz, whose illustrative style during the mid-nineties leaned into the gritty, atmospheric aesthetic prevalent in the game's early expansions. Wackwitz focused on conveying the barren, rugged nature of the 'brushland' terrain, utilizing muted tones to suggest a hostile wilderness.
