Bruvac the Grandiloquent

Bruvac the Grandiloquent was originally introduced in the 2020 Magic: The Gathering set Jumpstart, designed as a legendary creature centered on the mill mechanic. The character represents a Vedalken advisor from the plane of Ravnica, known for his obsession with knowledge and archiving, which reflects the card's ability to double the number of cards an opponent mills. The design intentionally pushes the boundaries of milling strategies, making it a cornerstone for players who prefer a control-oriented, disruptive playstyle.

This specific version, released as part of a Secret Lair drop, features stylized, alternative artwork that leans into the eccentric personality of the character. Secret Lair cards are produced by Wizards of the Coast as premium, limited-availability artistic interpretations of existing cards. The reception of this specific iteration was largely driven by its unique visual identity, which collectors appreciated for diverging from the traditional aesthetic of the core set release while maintaining the mechanical identity that makes Bruvac a sought-after commander.
