Where it came from
Circular Logic was originally released in the Torment expansion of Magic: The Gathering in 2002. As a counterspell that gained significant power through the graveyard-focused madness mechanic, it became a cornerstone of competitive blue-black control decks during its era, reflecting the set's thematic emphasis on darker, macabre magical forces.
For the Dominaria Remastered set, released in 2023, the card was reprinted to highlight iconic mechanics from Magic's history. The illustration for this specific printing maintains the aesthetic continuity of the Dominaria plane, curated to evoke nostalgia for players while fitting the polished, high-fantasy visual standards of modern card design.
