Provenance

Where it came from

The City of Brass card originated in the 1994 expansion Arabian Nights, intended as a powerful land that provided versatility at the cost of player life. The 2003 World Championship Decks were a special product line released to commemorate the top decks from that year's tournament, featuring gold-bordered cards that were functionally identical to their standard counterparts but ineligible for sanctioned competitive play.

The 2003 edition featured the specific deck build of Carlos Romão, the World Champion of the previous year. The design of the original card was illustrated by Mark Poole, whose evocative work became iconic within the early aesthetic of the game. These decks were designed as a educational bridge, allowing players to study and experience the construction of high-level tournament strategies used by the world's best competitors during that era.
